Item Special Note
Experiencing the forced removal of Japanese Canadians, Norman Takeuchi’s work represents an uneasy search for harmony and balance, but ultimately celebrates his Asian heritage. Illustrating the concept of duality and embracing two cultures, his abstract paintings are integrated with images from traditional Japanese woodblock prints and familiar Canadian images.
