‘Head Space’ was exhibited in 2021 as part of a series that explores our relentless pursuit of growth and its impact on the ecosystem and human relationships. The creation of this series was supported by a City grant. Five works from the series were acquired for the City’s art collection.

En 2021, « Head Space » a fait partie d’une exposition qui explorait notre quête incessante de croissance et son effet sur les écosystèmes et les relations humaines. Cette série a bénéficié d’une bourse discernée par la Ville, qui a également acquis cinq de ces œuvres pour sa collection d’art municipale.

Driven by biology and powerful narratives, humans have transformed and dominated Earth like no other species. Shirley Yik examines the narratives underlying the systems we create. Yik holds a Diploma of Fine Arts from the Ottawa School of Art and graduate degrees in business and information science from Carleton University.
Motivés par la biologie et de puissants récits, les êtres humains ont transformé et dominé la planète comme aucune autre espèce. Shirley Yik détaille dans son œuvre les histoires sous-jacentes aux systèmes que nous créons. Elle est diplômée en beaux-arts de l’École d’art d’Ottawa et titulaire de diplômes de deuxième cycle en affaires et en sciences de l’information de l’Université Carleton.
