Item Description

Session 1 of Earth Stewards Overnight Camp at Hawthorne Valley Farm

Remember your child's 3rd grade Farm Trip! Give them the opportunity to relive the joy and Magic of Hawthorne Valley Farm!

Earth Stewards camp is for teens ages 12-16 who are ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the real-life workings of a vibrant, organic farm. As “junior apprentices,” campers get the chance to learn directly from experts—whether it's working alongside farmers, cheesemakers, bakers, or chefs—and contribute to the daily rhythms of Hawthorne Valley. They’ll spend their mornings learning hands-on skills in various workstations across the farm, gaining valuable knowledge in sustainable farming and food production.

After a busy morning of farm life, Earth Stewards enjoy well-balanced afternoons of relaxation and adventure. They’ll have time to hang out with friends in the cabins, explore the surrounding woods, learn a new skill like whittling or fire building, and cool off with a swim in our pond. This program offers a refreshing break from the distractions of the digital world, allowing teens to connect with nature, unwind, and focus on the present moment.

Living in rustic cabins nestled in a peaceful wooded glen, campers experience camp life in a way that fosters independence and community. Counselors stay in nearby yurts and cabins, providing guidance and support. Meals are shared family-style in our Dining Hall, featuring fresh, mostly vegetarian dishes made from scratch using organic and Biodynamic ingredients. It's a chance to unplug, build new skills, and forge lasting friendships—all while making a real impact on the farm.

By the end of their stay, campers will leave with practical skills, a renewed connection to the environment, and a deeper sense of self. Whether they’re learning to bake bread, tending to the livestock, or assisting the farmers with a bountiful harvest, Earth Stewards will gain valuable life experience, build confidence, and feel empowered to make a difference.
