Wine lovers have made the pilgrimage to Grgich Hills Estate ever since Miljenko Mike Grgich's Chardonnay beat the best of France at the famed 1976 Paris Tasting, allowing Mike to partner with Austin Hills to open this family owned and operated winery in 1977. Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, the Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic winery that farms 366 acres naturally, without artificial pesticides or herbicides, and fuses passion with skill. Savor a gourmet three-course lunch in an elegant dining car en route to the Grgich Hills Winery before your one-hour tour and tasting, which will be led by a member of the Grgich Hills staff exclusively for train guests. The dessert course awaits you aboard the train in the restored 1915 Pullman Lounge Car for the hour-long ride back to Napa station.

The Meritage sits at the southern tip of Napa Valley, just a few minutes from the celebrated Carneros wine-growing region that straddles Napa and Sonoma counties, allowing you easy access to all of the magnificent wineries in the area. The wine country's bounty is present in every detail at this resort, from the dining to the accommodations, and even at Spa Terra, where you can regain a healthful balance at this underground luxury spa at the heart of the Earth, with steam grottos, soaking pools, treatment alcoves and tranquil walls of water.
