Item Description
This great polychrome 10 ¼” X 12 ½” basket displays four large saguaro cacti. Circa 1930. This good-sized basket has minimal damage for its age and shows the deep red saguaro fruit which the weaver obtained from laboriously digging and stripping the red roots of the Banana Yucca, or Spanish Bayonet. The white and pale green come from the Yucca Elata or Soap Tree Yucca. This basket is a perfect tribute to our native giants at Saguaro National Park. The appraisal of value is provided by Terry DeWald, a member of the Antique Tribal Art Dealers Association.
