About the Artist
Kathy Sharpe's artistic journey is a tapestry woven with a rich legacy. Born in Chicago and raised in Winnetka, Illinois, her artistic education commenced at the venerable Chicago Art Institute when she was just a child. Her family's artistic lineage includes a grandfather who served as a costume designer for the Vienna Opera and a cousin renowned as both a cartoonist and accomplished watercolorist.
Kathy's primary medium is oil painting, where she draws inspiration from nature and still life. However, in 1990, when her husband received the Nobel Prize in Economics, Kathy's extensive travels allowed her to embrace watercolor as a portable medium. Her artistic prowess has shone through in the form of thirty one-person shows, inclusion in forty juried exhibitions, and participation in numerous group showcases.
Kathy's work transcends borders, residing in private collections across Europe, Japan, and fifteen U.S. states. It has also graced the shelves of esteemed establishments like Gumps, Nordstrom, and Neiman Marcus.
