Item Description
Erin Hayde is a visual artist based in New York City. She (they) currently works with trash, debris, and found objects to explore ideas of human/nature, value, materiality, and the anthropocene, often through a humorous or absurd lens.
The inspiration for "IX" is the federal civil rights law known as Title IX and its role in 'leveling the playing field". The green felt ribbons are covered with machine-sewn elements and represent various "playing fields" with the words of Title IX running on the backside of each in a repeating scroll. The felt used for the piece was rescued from the end-of-semester trash pile of the artist's MFA program. The piece comes with a printed and signed COA.
